Free vs Paid Order Flow Software: What the Free Plans Actually Include
What free order flow plans include and what you pay for, using the official pricing pages of ATAS, Bookmap, Quantower and NinjaTrader as checked on 2026-10-23.
What "free" usually means here
Order flow software needs detailed market data. In practice, free plans limit one or more of four things: how real-time the data is, how many symbols or indicators you can use, how much history you get and which advanced chart types are included. Knowing which limit applies to you tells you whether free is enough.
The facts below come from each company's official pricing page on 2026-10-23. Prices and limits change, so confirm on the page. See the comparison table for sources.
ATAS: free Start plan
ATAS lists a free Start plan with no time limit: 3 indicators per chart, futures data delayed 15 minutes, no stock data and one active crypto connection. Footprint (cluster) charts, Market Profile and an Order Flow indicator are listed on all plans, and crypto is real-time on all plans. Market Replay is not on Start. The OrderFlow chart type is listed only on Pro and Ultra.
Bookmap: free Digital plan
Bookmap's free Digital plan shows one symbol at a time and a 1-hour crypto backfill. Real-time crypto from Binance, Bitfinex and 20+ connections is listed. Delayed US stocks and futures are listed, and market data for live futures and stocks is sold separately with approximate prices of $34 to $110 per month depending on the provider.
Quantower and NinjaTrader
Quantower offers a limited free version with no registration and a 7-day full trial, but its pricing page does not list the free limits, so check its comparison page. NinjaTrader is free to use for simulated trading with no time limit and no funding, but real-time market data requires a funded and approved live account, even on its Free plan.
What you pay for when you upgrade
Across these products the paid tiers mostly buy real-time futures data, more indicators and symbols, longer history and advanced chart types. Exchange data fees are often separate from the software price. A realistic budget therefore has two lines: the software and the data.
A sensible path
Learn the concepts on crypto or delayed data first, where the free plans are real-time or good enough for study. Once you know which features you actually use, price the paid tier and the data together. Remember that order flow is a tool for reading activity, not a signal that predicts price, and keep your risk rules unchanged.
Key takeaways
- Free plans limit data delay, symbols, indicators, history or chart types.
