Measured Moves and Price Targets
How to project targets from the pattern height.
Most patterns have a measured move: the pattern height projected from the breakout point. It is a guide to where price could travel, not a promise.
Combine the measured target with real levels, such as previous highs, to decide where to take profit. If a level sits before the target, plan to exit there.
Use at least 2R. If the measured move gives less than 2R from entry to stop, skip.
Key takeaways
- Target = pattern height from the breakout
- Check for obstacles before the target
- Skip trades under 2R
