Moving Average Crossovers
The golden cross, death cross and fast-slow crossover systems.
A crossover occurs when a faster average crosses a slower one. A golden cross is the 50 crossing above the 200, and a death cross is the reverse. They show a change in trend momentum.
Crossovers lag, so you often enter late. They work in trending markets but produce many small losses in ranges. Adding a rule that avoids flat averages helps.
Test the idea on your market and timeframe. A system that works on daily stocks may not work on 5-minute forex.
Key takeaways
- Fast crossing slow = trend change signal
- Lagging, works in trends, whipsaws in ranges
