Putting It Together: A Full Entry Model

Advanced ยท 12 min read

Combine liquidity, structure and a fair value gap into one checklist with defined entry, stop and target.

What it is

A model is a repeatable sequence. This one (long version) has six steps: sweep of sell-side liquidity, close back above, a CHoCH, a fair value gap, a retrace into it, and a target at buy-side liquidity.

Every step filters out low-quality trades. If a step is missing, you skip. The short version is the mirror image.

Nothing here guarantees profit. Test the model on historical charts, then on a demo account, before risking real money.

How to spot it

  1. Mark a clear pool of equal lows and the previous swing high.
  2. Wait for a sweep below the lows that closes back above.
  3. Confirm a CHoCH on the lower timeframe and mark the fair value gap left behind.
  4. Enter on the retrace into the gap, with the stop under the sweep low and the target at the prior high.

Trade plan

  • Entry: On the retrace into the fair value gap (or OTE) after the CHoCH.
  • Stop loss: Below the sweep low. If price closes below it, exit.
  • Target: The previous swing high (buy-side liquidity), at least 2R away. Skip if the reward is smaller than 2R.

Common mistakes

  • Wrong: Entering as soon as the sweep happens. Right: Wait for the CHoCH and the pullback.
  • Wrong: Taking the trade when the target is too close. Right: If reward is below 2R, skip it.
  • Wrong: Risking more after a loss. Right: Risk a fixed small percent, such as 0.5% to 1% of the account.

Pro tip: Journal every trade with a screenshot. After 30 trades you will know whether this model works for you.

Quiz

  • Where does the stop go in the long entry model? Answer: Below the sweep low. A close below the sweep low invalidates the idea.
  • What should you do if the reward is smaller than 2R? Answer: Skip the trade. Small rewards do not justify the risk.
  • Before risking real money you should: Answer: Test on past charts and a demo account. No model is guaranteed. Test it first.
  • Which step confirms a possible shift after the sweep? Answer: A change of character (CHoCH). A CHoCH on the lower timeframe is the structure confirmation.
